User Guide

Guest Post Finder Pro

Discover editorial outreach prospects, author-bio opportunities, competitor mentions, submission pages, contact emails, and domain metrics from one Chrome extension.

1. Initial Setup

Guest Post Finder Pro uses your own Apify account for Google SERP searches and optional traffic or backlink metrics. Domain Rating uses your own free Ahrefs API key.

  1. Install the extension from the Chrome Web Store.
  2. Create or open your Apify account.
  3. Copy your personal Apify API token from Apify settings.
  4. Open Guest Post Finder Pro and paste the token.
  5. Start the trial or activate your license from the extension.
  6. Create a free Ahrefs API key and add it under Settings for Domain Rating checks.

Both API keys are stored locally in Chrome. The Apify token is sent only to Apify for actor runs, and the Ahrefs key is sent only to Ahrefs for free Domain Rating requests.

2. Guest Post Search

The Guest Post Search tab builds Google searches from your niche, filters noisy results, enriches contact details, and exports a clean prospect list.

  1. Choose a prospecting strategy card.
  2. Enter a niche or use a starter niche chip such as SEO agency, SaaS, or digital marketing.
  3. Choose the target country.
  4. Choose pages/query. This means Google SERP pages per generated query.
  5. Enable email-only filtering if you only want prospects with usable email addresses.
  6. Optionally enable Ahrefs traffic metrics and backlink metrics separately.
  7. Review the run preview before starting the search.

Ahrefs metrics are checked only for the final qualified domains after SERP filtering, dedupe, and contact enrichment.

3. Starter Niches and Cost Preview

Starter niche chips only fill the topic field. They do not change your selected strategy, country, pages/query, email filter, or Ahrefs metric settings. This keeps the run predictable and lets you review scope and cost before Apify credits are used.

  • SEO agency, SaaS, digital marketing, ecommerce, and AI tools are quick topic shortcuts.
  • Strategy cards control the search intent. Starter niche chips do not start a run.
  • Your current country selection stays under your control.
  • The preview shows Google SERP pages, expected raw results, Ahrefs metric mode, and a rough Apify cost range.

4. Search Strategies

The strategy decides what kind of evidence the extension looks for. The same niche can produce very different results depending on the strategy.

Editorial Targets

Default strategy. Finds relevant publishers, media sites, resources, insights pages, newsletters, and company blogs that may be worth pitching even without public guest-post guidelines. Use it when you want a wider list of credible editorial surfaces.

Author Bio Discovery

Looks for contributor, guest-author, author-bio, byline, founder, CEO, staff-writer, or similar evidence. Use it when you want stronger proof that named writers already appear on the site. The result page is evidence; the target is the publisher domain.

Competitor Mentions

Uses competitor domains, brand names, or author names to find pages and publishers already mentioning similar companies or writers. This strategy often benefits from 5-10 pages/query because useful mentions can sit deeper in Google results.

Seed Domain Discovery

Uses supplied seed domains or URLs as discovery anchors for related or adjacent publishing targets. Use it when you already have examples of the kind of sites you want more of.

Submission Pages

Keeps the classic write-for-us workflow as one strategy. It searches for explicit submission pages, contributor guidelines, guest-post guideline pages, and similar public signals. The depth setting controls Focused, Balanced, or Deep coverage.

Custom

Lets advanced users choose exact footprint queries manually. Use it when you know the specific search templates you want to run.

Quick rule: use Editorial Targets for broader publisher discovery, Author Bio Discovery for author/contributor evidence, Competitor Mentions for competitor-led prospecting, Seed Domain Discovery for lookalike discovery, and Submission Pages only when you specifically want public write-for-us pages.

5. Filtering and Contact Enrichment

The extension removes obvious noise before export: social platforms, generic guest-post articles, list posts, marketplaces, weakly relevant pages, and duplicate domains.

  • Submission Pages are enriched from the result URL and likely contact/about pages.
  • Editorial, Author Bio, Seed Domain, and Competitor Mention strategies use the result page as evidence and look for blog, resources, insights, about, and contact pages.
  • Email addresses are quality-checked automatically. Invalid, placeholder, and technical addresses are removed.
  • When email-only is enabled, rows without a usable email are dropped.

6. Domain Contacts

The Domain Contacts tab enriches a domain list you already have. It looks for usable emails, contact pages, contact forms, and guest post submission pages without running a Google SERP search.

  1. Paste domains, URLs, or email addresses.
  2. Choose whether to keep only domains with a usable email.
  3. Optionally add Ahrefs traffic metrics or backlink metrics.
  4. Click Find Contact Details.
  5. Export CSV or copy the result directly into Google Sheets.

Domain Contacts does not consume the trial SERP search quota. Optional Ahrefs metrics still use your Apify account.

7. Domain Metrics

The Domain Metrics tab checks one or many domains without running a guest post search.

  1. Paste domains, URLs, or email addresses.
  2. The extension normalizes and deduplicates domains automatically.
  3. Click Check Domain Metrics.
  4. Copy the result as TSV and paste it directly into Google Sheets.
DomainDomain RatingOrganic TrafficTraffic ValueBacklinksLinking Sites

Up to 100 domains can be checked in one run. Domain Rating requires the free Ahrefs API key saved in Settings. Optional traffic, value, backlink, and linking-site metrics use Apify credits only when selected.

8. Export, Copy Sheet, and Webhook

Guest Post Search and Domain Contacts export CSV files and can copy a Sheets-ready outreach table. The most important fields come first: domain, email, DR, traffic, traffic value, backlinks, linking sites, prospect quality, outreach angle, why this prospect, opportunity type, contact form, submission URL, and evidence URL.

The exported prospect quality fields are designed for outreach decisions: Prospect Quality, Outreach Angle, and Why This Prospect.

If you add a webhook URL in Settings, CSV export also posts the same prospect data as JSON to tools such as Zapier or Make.

9. Apify Credits and Caching

  • The run preview shows how many Google SERP pages will be checked before a search starts.
  • Google Search Scraper runs and optional traffic or backlink metric lookups use Apify credits from your own Apify account.
  • Domain Rating requests use your free Ahrefs API key and do not consume Ahrefs API units.
  • Same-day SERP cache and run reuse help avoid duplicate Google Search Scraper runs.
  • Contact enrichment and Domain Contacts use normal website fetches and do not consume Apify credits unless optional Ahrefs metrics are enabled.
  • Ahrefs traffic metrics and backlink metrics can be enabled separately to control cost and speed.

10. License and Trial

  • The trial lasts 7 days and includes 3 full SERP searches.
  • Domain Contacts and Domain Metrics work during an active trial without consuming SERP search quota.
  • After the trial ends, upgrade from inside the extension.
  • If license verification is temporarily unavailable, the extension may allow short offline grace for previously verified access.

11. Troubleshooting

  • No emails found - the site may only use a contact form or may hide contact details.
  • Domain Rating is unavailable - add or verify your free Ahrefs API key in Settings.
  • Other metrics are blank - the external metrics actor did not return that field for the domain.
  • A run seems slow - Ahrefs metric runs can take a few minutes for larger lists.
  • Popup was closed during a run - reopen the extension and it will resume from saved progress where possible.
  • License unavailable - refresh the license panel and make sure the Finnzon website API is reachable.
