Local Lead Finder

Find potential customers from Google Maps, automatically score them, and export contact information as a ready list.

1. Initial Setup

On first use, the extension asks for an Apify API key. Apify is the service that fetches business data from Google Maps.

  1. Create a free account at apify.com.
  2. Sign in and go to Settings → Integrations.
  3. Copy your Personal API token.
  4. Open the Local Lead Finder extension in Chrome and paste the key.
  5. Click Save & Start Finding Leads.

Your API key is stored locally on your device and is only sent to Apify for searches.

2. Finding Businesses

There are two ways to search:

A. Map Search (Scan Current Search)

  1. Open Google Maps in your browser.
  2. Search for an industry and location (e.g. "dentist Miami").
  3. Zoom the map to your target area.
  4. Open the extension and click Scan Current Search.

Map search finds businesses visible on the map at that moment. Zoom in to narrow the area.

B. Preset Search

  1. Select an industry from the dropdown (e.g. "Dental Practices", "Plumbers").
  2. Enter a location (e.g. "Miami, FL").
  3. Click Search.

C. Custom Search

  1. Leave the preset dropdown empty.
  2. Type your own business type (e.g. "marketing agency").
  3. Enter a location and click Search.

3. Search Options

  • Enrich with company emails & socials — Fetches business email addresses and social media profiles (Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter). Costs +$0.002 per result.
  • Detect ads presence — Checks if the business is running Google Ads. Businesses running ads get a slightly lower score. VPN recommended for accuracy.
  • Max results per search — How many businesses to find per search (25, 50, 100, or 200). Higher values take longer and use more Apify credits.

4. Lead Scoring

Every business is automatically scored from 0 to 100. A high score means the business is likely to benefit from marketing services.

High (70–100) — Best prospects. Minimal online presence, no ads.
Medium (50–69) — Good prospects. Basic marketing, room for improvement.
Low (0–49) — Established businesses. Likely already marketing actively.

What affects the score?

  • Review count — 10–100 reviews is ideal (active but not yet big).
  • Star rating — 4.0–4.7 stars is best (authentic, not artificially perfect).
  • Website — No website or a simple site (Wix, Squarespace) increases the score.
  • Social media — Low social media presence increases the score (enrichment must be enabled).
  • Ads — Running Google Ads slightly decreases the score.
  • Industry — High-value industries (dental, plumbing, salons) get bonus points.

5. Exporting Results (CSV)

Click Export CSV in the results view. The file includes the following columns:

Business NamePhoneEmailWebsiteAddressRatingReview CountLead ScorePriorityWhy Good LeadFirst Outreach LineCategoryGoogle Maps URLAds Running (Yes/No)FacebookLinkedInInstagram / Twitter

The CSV automatically detects your regional settings for decimal and column separators. The file opens directly in Excel and Google Sheets.

First Outreach Line — A personalized opening message is generated automatically for each business, ready to use in your outreach emails.

6. Webhook Integration (Optional)

You can connect the extension to automation tools like Zapier or Make:

  1. Open Settings at the bottom of the extension.
  2. Paste your webhook URL (e.g. Zapier Webhook URL).
  3. Click Save.

When you export results to CSV, the data is also automatically sent to the webhook URL in JSON format.

7. Settings

Click Settings at the bottom of the extension. In settings you can:

  • Add or change the webhook URL.
  • Reset the API key and clear all saved data (Reset API key & clear data).

8. Apify Credits

Your Apify credit balance is shown at the top of the extension. Remaining credits update automatically after each search.

  • The free Apify plan includes $5/month in credits.
  • This is enough for approximately 3,000 business searches per month.
  • Email/social enrichment uses slightly more credits (+$0.002/result).
  • Click the button to manually refresh the balance.

9. License and Updates

  • Free trial — 7 days with a limited daily search count.
  • Paid version — Click Upgrade in the extension, enter your email, and complete the purchase.
  • Version updates — The extension automatically notifies you when a new version is available. Download the new ZIP, replace the files in your extension folder, and click Reload in Chrome extensions.
